Teachers in Space Workshop for Maine Teachers

Teachers, how would you like to learn how to build an Arduino based miniature satellite with your students and launch it to the upper atmosphere and into space!? At our workshop, you will learn how to easily build and program a 1U CubeSat experimental platform with an Arduino microcontroller, 3D printed frame, and various sensors. Also during the workshop you will be part of a high altitude balloon mission to collect data from up to 100,000 feet in the stratosphere. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to visit bluShift Aerospace’s facilities at Brunswick Landing, learn how to implement STEM in the classroom, and make valuable NASA and industry connections. After the workshop ends, take the equipment back to the classroom and work with your students to build a flight-ready CubeSat experiment, with regular Q&A check-ins with TIS staff and partners. Those experiments that pass all engineering milestones throughout the school year will be eligible to fly on a suborbital or orbital rocket launch with one of our space flight providers.
