Collecting oyster data with Changemakers Resident Ray Mills
On September 10th, Changemakers Resident Ray Mills had the opportunity to join individuals from The Nature Conservancy, Manomet Conservation Sciences, Colby College, and the Basin Oyster Project at the Maine Oyster Company Basecamp in Phippsburg, for a day of data collection and oyster restoration. They collectively gathered about 15,000 oysters from eight or so oyster farms, counted them, and took samples for measurements. These oysters were then transported to The Basin for placement, where they will help restore oyster populations in the area.
